Litigation Attorney

Full-Time | In Person | Vero Beach, Florida

Compensation: $85,000–$150,000 per year
Collins Brown Barkett, Chartered is seeking a Florida-licensed attorney with litigation experience to join the firm.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and possess strong legal research, writing, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills. The successful candidate will be a hard-working team member prepared to take responsibility for all aspects of a client’s case, including communication with clients, counsel, courts, experts, and other professional advisers.

Position Responsibilities
The Litigation Attorney will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing active case files, court appearances, filing deadlines, and upcoming due dates
  • Monitoring and responding to communications from clients, opposing counsel, and the courts
  • Reviewing and responding to settlement offers, discovery requests, correspondence, and other case-related communications
  • Managing a full and active caseload
  • Tracking the status, deadlines, priorities, and next steps for each matter
  • Maintaining case calendars and updating case-management systems
  • Drafting and reviewing complaints, answers, motions, responses, and other pleadings
  • Preparing discovery requests and responses, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission
  • Preparing correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, courts, experts, and other advisers
  • Conducting legal research involving case law, statutes, procedural rules, and issues relevant to active matters
  • Researching and preparing support for motions, including motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, and motions in limine
  • Communicating directly with clients regarding case developments, strategy, expectations, and next steps
  • Communicating with opposing counsel regarding scheduling, discovery, depositions, negotiation, and settlement
  • Coordinating with experts, investigators, consultants, and other advisers
  • Preparing for and attending hearings, depositions, mediations, case-management conferences, and trials
  • Filing pleadings and motions through the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal
  • Maintaining accurate time entries, when applicable
  • Maintaining complete and organized physical and digital case files

 

Qualifications
Candidates must have:

  • Admission to practice law in the State of Florida
  • A current Florida Bar license
  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • The ability to manage a full caseload
  • The ability to balance multiple matters, priorities, and deadlines
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive client matters
  • A dependable and collaborative approach to client service

Two years of litigation experience, or equivalent experience, is preferred.
